MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been consulting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a variety of small companies in Cornwall currently generate income from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this sort of industry going it does require just a little bit of lift which comes in the type of tax inevitable."
